POLARITY THERAPY

Polarity Therapy is an advanced biofield therapy that taps into the body's innate wisdom and activates its capacity for self-regulation and self-healing. As a holistic practice, it promotes harmony across all levels of being - physical, psychological, and spiritual. The work is unique because it acknowledges the entire system of a person- the tissue, the organs, the personality, diet, and movement. Polarity Therapy was developed by Dr. Randolph Stone, DO, DC, over the course of 60 years of clinical research and practice. It draws from both Eastern and Western influences, such as Osteopathy, Naturopathy, Chinese Medicine, and Ayurveda. In layman's terms, it is a mix between massage, craniosacral therapy and myofascial release, incorporating the best parts of all three for a complete bodywork session!

CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY

Craniosacral therapy is soft touch work which speaks the language of 'rest and digest'. The focus of this system is garnering the healing energy within the body, which either jump-starts the person’s own healing ability and process, or returns one's system into harmony and balance. It works well for people who are exhausted from day to day duties, and also someone who is suffering from something las serious as fibromyalgia because the craniosacral rhythms are at the core of the body’s pulse and play a crucial part in the 'rest and digest' part of the Autonomic Nervous System. We need this to recover from the daily stressors of our lives. Thus, Craniosacral work can make a significant contribution to a person's ability to thrive by expanding the bandwidth of the parasympathetic nervous system, which aids in healing and recovery. As the person’s core energy becomes related to the work, the tissue and the consciousness reorganize around the highest intelligence in the body and the work goes out very far into their lives, beyond just feeling good in the body. A person's response to stress will change, giving them more space in between the stressors of daily life. “Craniosacral work is the Rolls Royce of bodywork.” – John Beaulieu, ND, Ph.D.

SALT STONE MASSAGE

Himalayan Salt Stone Massage is a form of massage therapy that follows the same principles of Swedish Massage with the addition of heated stones, which helps lead to deep relaxation. Adding heat to specific areas on the body enhances the feelings of relaxation and peace. Recommended in particular for individuals suffering from fibromyalgia, arthritis or other chronic pain. The penetrating effects of the heated stones allows the massage to be delivered without excessive pressure.

-Not recommended during pregnancy-

LYMPHATIC MASSAGE (Manual lymphatic drainage):

A gentle 2 hour massage intended to encourage the natural drainage of lymph from the tissue space body. Ideal for getting rid of cellulite, swollen feet, post-surgery and premenstrual syndrome.

What to expect:

A lymphatic treatment is very light in nature to help stimulate the lymphatic system. During a session, it’s not uncommon for a person to feel a bit clammy or sweaty as the lymphatic fluid is draining. Post treatment, you should feel very relaxed and calm as well as a bit tired. It’s important to drink plenty of water after your session and eat light as your body will be detoxing from the treatment.

POST-SURGICAL LYMPHATIC MASSAGE:

A relaxing 60 minute lymphatic massage perfect for helping to drain excess fluid post surgery, allowing your body to recover more quickly and with less stress to your system. Your therapist will have access to a variety of pillows and bolsters to ensure your comfort at all times during your treatment and can work around sutures and drains.

MLD FOR LYMPHEDEMA:

Specific to those with lymphedema, this gentle 1 hour massage is intended to encourage the natural drainage of lymphatic fluid from the tissue space body. Your therapist will focus on specific sections of the body (and surrounding areas) where the lymphedema is most severe and using gentle "feather" like strokes, will work to free the body from blockages to affect positive change for your lymphatic system and introduce a healthier flow.

Lymphedema is the build-up of fluid in soft body tissues when the lymph system is damaged or blocked. The lymph system is a network of lymph vessels, tissues, and organs that carry lymph throughout the body. Lymphedema occurs when lymph is not able to flow through the body the way that it should.

ASHIATSU MASSAGE (Barefoot Massage)

This Deep Tissue massage works further into the fascia as well as trigger points and connective tissues with a slower and more forceful intention. Ashiatsu not only adds more pressure but it also add compression and myofascial stretching. Compression massage squeezes the entire body from above and below. It also affects the internal organs. It is a soft structural integration that realigns the body. Skeletal adjustments often occur during a session. This unique modality combines three therapies into one.

In the Japanese language “Ashi” translates to foot and “Atsu” means pressure. Ashiatsu is deep, broad, consistent pressure while utilizing feet and body weight. Gravity enables Ashiatsu therapists to deliver up to 3x deeper pressure than with traditional hands-on treatments. Utilizing the broad surface of the foot as the massage tool provides consistent pressure and contours nicely to the body. If you are in need of deep tissue work, but don’t enjoy the discomfort that comes with pointy elbows and thumbs, this is a game changer. Frees up bundled nerves, elongates muscles, improves posture and decreases pain.

Frees Up Bundled Nerves

Movements along the para spinals and the lumbar region can relieve muscle spasms and open the intervertebral foramen (where spinal nerves pass through). It will give the nerves more space as well as increase circulation by bringing more freshly oxygenated blood to the area being treated.

Elongates Muscles and Detoxifies

Many ashiatsu strokes help to elongate the spine. These movements dramatically stretch shortened muscles, which help in relieving pain and discomfort. These long fluid strokes also help flush the body’s lymphatic system, which releases metabolic waste at a very high rate. We recommend drinking plenty of water before and after a treatment to help with the detoxification process.

Improves Posture and Decreases Pain

After only a few treatments, ashiatsu barefoot massage has been known to improve posture and range of motion. It will significantly reduce or eliminate chronic muscle pain, and improve bodily functions, which will create a higher sense of balance and well being within the body. Typically, one treatment a week for upwards of six weeks will produce these kinds of results.

Not recommended for people with:

  • Implants (such as pace makers or breast implants)

  • Frail individuals

  • Osteoporosis

  • Pregnancy (or possible pregnancy)

  • Varicose veins

  • Protruding or ruptured discs

  • Kidney disorders

  • High blood pressure

  • Recent injuries or surgeries

  • Contagious skin disorders

  • Compromised immune system

  • Acute liver or kidney disorders

  • Acute autoimmune disorders

  • Advanced Diabetes

CUPPING & BODY CONTOURING

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. Used for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage.

What to Expect:

During a cupping session, your practitioner will use a hand pump to apply cups to the desired treatment area, which are then left on anywhere from 3 to 10 minutes. You should expect to feel a tight sensation as the cups are applied. The amount of tightness you feel in the treated area should decrease the longer the cups are in place as the negative pressure is essentially pulling the fascia from the muscle, creating more space and relieving tension.

While the treated area is healing it may feel a little itchy as the body is sending fresh blood cells and flushing metabolic waste, this is completely normal and indicates your body’s healing. The treated area may also feel a bit sensitive to touch which is also normal.

MEDI-CUPPIN

MediCupping increases circulation, drains the lymphatic system and eliminates solid bloat. The physical formation of “Solid Bloat” is simple; heat from inflamed tissue slowly dehydrates the surrounding lymph, which inhibits normal drainage, circulation and hydration. Fascia fuses together from the heat and the congestion spreads through the upper tissues and skin surface. This inflammation can come from a myriad of sources such as surgeries, injuries, chronic movement patterns, and even childhood diseases and exposure to toxicities.

Benefits Of Body Wraps:
- Weight Loss
- Body Contouring
- Cellulite Reduction
- Improved Immunity
- Lung Detox (Ceasing Smoking)
- Body Detoxification
- Emotional Support
- Stress Release

How Does It Work?

MediCupping™ uses a machined to create the suction and pumping movements that are normally done with manual vacuum pistols, to create a soothing, consistent and effective treatment without strain on the therapist or client. A brief experience will illustrate the immediate treatment applications, as well as the invaluable information that the body reveals through the lens of the cup. As an adjunct therapy to chiropractic manipulations, medical protocols and surgical recovery, MediCupping™ therapy accelerates patient progress.

MediCupping provides a wonderful bridge to the medical community, with special applications for pre- and post-surgery conditions, chiropractic and orthopedic work, conditions associated with Diabetes, Parkinson’s, Fibromyalgia, and much more. Results are fast and comfortable for the client and practitioner, and noticeably impressive to medical professionals.

One of the most amazing aspects of this technique is the “separation” that the vacuum produces in tissue layers. This enables water absorption and renewed blood flow to undernourished and dehydrated tissue as well as the elimination of old waste and congestion.

Along with the substantial health benefits of clearing old debris, the use of suction is invaluable in releasing soft tissue, scars and restricted fascia. Sports professionals are benefitting from the ease of recovery from injury or surgery and an increase in athletic performance, and major league sports teams are utilizing the therapy.

What to Expect:

Our body contouring sessions are designed to help detoxify the body and stimulate the lymphatic system which can be very beneficial to those fasting, smoking cessation or body building (as it helps release water weight). During a body contouring session, your practitioner will use a series and silicone cups as well as a MediCupping system to help loosen the back muscles and fascia. Following that is a protocol for abdominal MediCupping. Throughout the entire process, an application of Lotion P5 Targeted Curve Concentrate and Shaping Contour Balm from Phytomer are applied.

GUA SHA

IASTM (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization)
Gua sha uses tools to release trauma, adhesions, scar tissue and blood stasis in the muscles and fascia.  --Gua sha should not be preformed on someone taking blood thinning medication--Contraindications
1. Various acute or chronic infectious disease, acute persistent high-grade fever, acute osteomyelitis, tuberculous arthritis, acute abdomen or infectious skin disease, diabetes, and hemorrhagic conditions such as thrombopenia or coagulation disorders.
2. Contraindicated body parts: Body parts with skin ulcers, sores, scalding, recent fracture, or wounds.

What to Expect:

During a gua sha session your practitioner may use a couple different tools to help raise the sha in the body. The area being treated will feel hot as blood is raised to the surface of the skin and as the treatment continues, can begin to feel a bit painful, sort of like getting a tattoo. Always remember to check in with your therapist if you need a break and follow our post treatment care protocol (handout). While your gua sha is healing, the treated area may feel a little itchy as the body is sending fresh blood cells and flushing metabolic waste, this is completely normal and indicates your body’s healing. The treated area may also feel a bit sensitive to touch which is also normal, just be sure to keep it covered until the sha is reabsorbed into the skin.

REFLEXOLOGY

Reflexology is a therapeutic method of relieving pain by stimulating pressure points on the feet and hands. This controlled pressure alleviates the source of the discomfort. In the absence of any particular malady or abnormality, reflexology may be as effective for promoting good health and for preventing illness as it may be for relieving symptoms of stress, injury, and illness.

What to Expect:

Reflexology is the art of using pressure points on the feet and hands to stimulate specific body parts and organs to facilitate healing and detoxification. During a reflexology treatment, your practitioner will apply a firm pressure to the points on your feet or hands, which are held for about 30 seconds or so. Most reflexology points can be a bit painful, so nice cleansing breaths are great to calm the nervous system during your session. Because reflexology points are connected to the organs, it’s very important that you eat light and avoid alcohol and other toxins following your session as they could make you feel sick.
